From trams to open-top buses, here are some vintage vehicles from the last century

For more than 100 years, a Welsh bus company has been transporting passengers across Cardiff.

Back in 1902, municipal leaders of the then Cardiff County Borough acquired Cardiff Tramways to meet the transportation needs of a rapidly expanding urban area.

The first electric trams entered service on May 2, 1902 and were a familiar sight on the capitals’ streets until February 1950.

Cardiff Bus Motor buses first arrived in December 1920 and trolleybuses in 1942, with the last trolleybus running on December 3, 1969.

The most recent vehicle additions to the fleet feature latest technology including contactless payment systems, 4G WiFi and USB charging points.

From 1902 until 1971, the fleet were crimson and cream, then from 1971 to 1999 the orange and white colours were adopted.

In 1999, the fleet adopted Burgess blue and cream as its colours, with the current day orange and green livery making its first appearance in 2007.

Here’s a quick look back at some of the transport operator’s most iconic and recognisable vehicles from the past 115 years - but how many do you remember?
