Features that separates Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management (EPPM) from other scheduling software are Project Codes and the Enterprise Project Structure (EPS). Project codes support EPS reporting.
The EPS is like a double edged sword. It is great have data on all the projects in the organization. But the EPS may become cluttered and burdened with numerous projects of minor significance to the organization.
Project codes are a way to organize and report on projects by your specified criteria. In this way upper management can focus in on the most relevant projects in the company’s portfolio.
This article demonstrates how to create and assign project codes to projects in support of filtering and reporting efforts.

Summary
Primavera P6 EPPM supports the creation and assignment of project codes. Project codes help upper management consider the sum total of projects, but focus in on a select few. Primavera P6 EPPM comes with many preconfigured project codes. And schedulers can create new project codes to support their specific reporting requirements.
