Hull FC have shown an interest in signing highly rated young forward Ebon Scurr from Bradford Bulls.

The Black and Whites look set for a busy off-season as they look to freshen up Brett Hodgson’s first-team squad ahead of the 2022 campaign.

As such, the FC hierarchy have been assessing their options and it is understood Scurr is one player they have shown an interest in bringing to the MKM Stadium.

While the Black and Whites do have a number of targets, they have approached the Bulls and discussions are thought to be an early stage.

Scurr has been one of Bradford’s standout performers this year and it seems his form under John Kear has attracted plenty of interest, with St Helens among the clubs interested earlier this year.

However, while Scurr is thought to be keen on a move away from the Bulls, the club are entitled to compensation, given he has come through their academy system.

The 21-year-old can play at prop or second-row and he has made most of his appearances off the bench this season as an impact interchange, scoring two tries.

Of course, any new deal this off-season would have to be approved by Brett Hodgson and the head coach has made it clear on numerous occasions that he would only be interested in bringing the right people to the club.

He has regularly underlined his desire to add strength in depth to his pack, having found himself short of options through the middle at times this season.

He’ll be keen to make improvements elsewhere across his squad, but a new prop has been his priority for some time now.

FC have already announced the re-signing of Chris Satae for the next two seasons, while it is understood agreements are in place to keep both Jack Brown and Ligi Sao in East Yorkshire beyond the end of the season, too.

But, the future of Masi Matongo remains up in the air and should he leave, Hull could be left needing even more front-row reinforcements.
