It's time to Prioritize the 'S' in ESG (#environment, #social and #governance). The past few years have seen an increase in proposed and passed legislation by the US and other governments to clamp down on modern slavery in global supply chains. However, the International Labour Organization (ILO) estimates that 40 million people are still in some form of slavery with a preponderance of them being women and girls. At the same time, technology exists to digitize supply chains to better track temporary and migrant workers to ensure their health, safety, and receipt of contextual fair wages. Committing to, measuring, and reporting more comprehensively on 'S' issues is the next frontier in ESG. This white paper discusses the need to 'go deeper' than what is provided by commonly used qualitative assessments (e.g., supplier questionnaires and third-party audits) and employ emerging technologies like blockchain and AI to collect, secure and analyze the data needed to tell the real story on social performance. #ESG #sustainability #riskmanagement #compliance #business #modernslavery #climateaction #SDGs #grc #esgrisk #ethicalsourcing #corporategovernance #SRI #socialimpactinvesting #sustainableinvesting #sustainableprocurement #sustainablesupplychain #supplychain #ilo #forcedlabor #forcedlabour
